Bend Dance Project Sponsors three local dance companies:
Jazz Dance Collective (JDC): An adult jazz dance company founded in 2000 by Holly Cambern. In 2006, Gail Bartley became the Artistic Director of the company. The company performs all styles of jazz dance, including traditional, lyrical, and Broadway-Fosse. For more information about Jazz Dance Collective, call 541.410.8451.
Ubiquitous Dance Company (UDC): A contemporary group of adult dancers from Central Oregon and the outlying areas ages 18-35 with contemp0rary dance and ballet experience who want to dance and perform. Members and apprentices will be exposed to a significant body of works, from a diverse variety of choreographers, as well as styles of dance. Opportunities to choreograph are also a possibility. Our goal is to provide dance opportunities including a unique and challenging repertoire while pushing the performers to achieve a higher level of technical proficiency and stage presence. Velocity Dance Theatre (VDT): At Dance Velocity we believe in the importance of an education in the arts. We teach dance as an art form, not as a competitive sport. In class we strive to introduce various movement styles, encourage the creative process, educate about the body’s anatomy and kinesiology, and introduce dance history.
